Frequently Asked Questions

Third Party Inspection Agencies are private, certified organizations that comply with ISO 17020. Due to a shortage of inspectors in the area, this is a voluntary program introduced by the Building Department of the District of Columbiato in order facilitate a more expedient construction process.

Under DCRA guidelines, Third Party Inspection Agencies must submit approval for all separate addresses of a project and provide evidence for all necessary permits and documents. In the majority of cases, this includes the approved set of blueprints.

In addition, DCRA requires the owner or owner's representative to sign a Notice of Intent (NOI), naming the third party inspection agency as the party responsbile for inspection. Lastly, in order to prevent a "conflict of interest", the owner and not the contractor, is finanically responsible for payment of all inspection fees.

For more information, please see the DCRA website.

Building Code Inspectors, LLC. is compliant with insurance requirements by the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA).
